People of Peruvai,  a ward of Vittal church found it difficult to go to Vittal for the  church services because of the long distance.  On June 5, 1975 a petition was made to the Bishop for a separate church.  A chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Fatima was built by Fr Albert Menezes of Vittal on February 2, 1983.

Fr Anthony Serrao, built the parochial house.  On May 11, 1997.  Peruvai was raised to the status of a parish by Bishop Aloysius P. D’Souza.   Fr Herbert Noronha sj was appointed Parochial Administrator till June 17, 1999 when Fr John D’Souza became the parish priest.
