Mudipu was once a part of Fajir church until 1997.  As Fajir was very far from here, Fr Michael Pereira of Fajir thought of establishing an outstation here and Bishop Basil D’Souza laid the foundation stone for the chapel on October 27, 1984.  Fr Gregory Serrao of Fajir built the presbytery.  Mass was offered at the presbytery on January 1, 1991 in commemoration of the sesqui-centennial celebrations of Fajir parish.  Work on the chapel was started and it was blessed by the bishop on May 10, 1993.  This is the first church dedicated to Blessed Joseph Vaz in Mangalore Dicoese. 

Mudipu became an independent parish on June 29, 1997.  Fr Alwyn D’Cunha is the first parish priest.  A small shrine was built in front of the church and the statue of Blessed Joseph Vaz was installed and blessed by Bishop Aloysius P. D’Souza on November 30, 1997.
