Prior to 2018, the faithful of Kommangala belonged to Sacred Heart Parish, Vorkady—located 14 kilometers away. To serve their spiritual needs, Fr. Peter Serrao, parish priest of Vorkady, established the Holy Family Chapel on November 16, 1994, built on land donated by 14 local families. Initially hosting bi-monthly Sunday Masses and catechism, the community steadily expanded its spiritual life and landholdings over the years.

Under the leadership of Fr. Apolinaris Crasta, a new, spacious chapel was constructed and blessed on November 9, 2006. Pastoral growth continued over the next decade, marked by the establishment of a parish cemetery in 2015 and the introduction of weekly Sunday Mass by its 2016 decennial milestone.

Demonstrating true Christian unity, the chapel drew together three distinct wards from different parishes: Votepadpu (Vorkady), Chippar (Vijayadka), and Kalai (Miyapadavu). In recognition of this growing, united flock of 44 families, Kommangala Chapel was officially elevated to the status of a Quasi-Parish in 2018—a testament to the enduring faith and collaboration of its community.
