Mass was celebrated here for the first time on February 13, 1969.  Fr Ligoury D’Souza (1972-1983) of Madanthyar provided regular Sunday masses at Nala.  On receiving a plot of land in the form of donation from Mr Jerome Pais at Nala, the St Ann’s Chapel was built and inaugurated on May 5, 1982. Fr Lawrence Rodrigues had served this chapel which he was the principal at Sacred Heart P.U. College, Madanthyar.
